Jharoka

Jharoka, the Resort 2022 exclusive collection designed by Verandah draws on my travels to the Golden City of Jaisalmer at the edge of the arid Thar desert in Rajasthan and the beautiful ‘Jharokas’ or enclosed intricately designed balconies jutting out from one of the oldest living forts, a thing of architectural beauty and the flora and fauna around it.
The UNESCO world heritage site built in 1156 AD highlights the culture, history and aesthetic of the desert town. The parrot, the marigold flower, desert palm leaves, hardy bougainvillea flowers and intricate motifs find home in the mystery and architecture of the Jharoka, used in Mughal times for one to look out but not to be looked into. In colors of the summer desert, these prints have been designed from the new Jharoka collection with love from India.
